CompTIA Server+™ Certification Course Details

Course Details

CompTIA Server+ validates the knowledge and skills of advanced IT technicians. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification for individuals with 18-24 months of experience with Industry Standard Server Architecture (ISSA) technology. CompTIA Server+ certifies technical knowledge in areas such as RAID, SCSI and multiple CPUs, as well as capabilities with server issues, including disaster recovery. Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Server+ candidates hold a CompTIA A+ certification.

Many corporations recognize the importance of staffing technicians who can competently perform basic server support. Companies such as CDW Computer Centers and CompuCom value the CompTIA Server+ certification and require it of their IT employees.

On course completion, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the features of server hardware and software.
  2. Plan for the installation and upgrade of servers.
  3. Know the features of server-level hardware (such as multiprocessing, RAID, and SCSI).
  4. Install and upgrade server hardware.
  5. Know basic network concepts and install network devices.
  6. Install and upgrade server OS, tools, and applications software on Windows, NetWare, and Linux.
  7. Understand network services (such as File & Print, DHCP, DNS, Web, and Email).
  8. Develop and implement a server management plan.
  9. Monitor and optimize a server system.
  10. Perform basic hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
  11. Understand Disaster Recovery concepts and plan effectively.
